UK vs US Covers #8 - White Cat by Holly Black

UK vs US Book Covers is a feature on Books Worth Remembering. I've seen it done on other blogs and thought it was a really great idea because I am strongly opinionated when it comes to having different book covers!

I think it's safe to say that the US cover is more visually appealing with a beautiful colour scheme and graphics whereas the UK one is more plain. I didn't actually realise that it was White Cat when I picked it up from the library shelf (Once again, those UK Covers they get me every time) because it really doesn't stand out at all.  However I do think it represents the story more than the UK cover. Which one would make me want to pick the book up off the shelf? Probably the US cover...

I know the US covers have been re-released with the final instalment of Black Heart coming out this year. This is the original US cover for White Cat.

Pretty awesome I know! I think this has the perfect balance of aesthetically pleasing style with good relevance/ reflection of the story. So this time I'm going for the original!

Which cover do you prefer? Which one would you buy or pick up off the shelves?

My review of White Cat will be up tomorrow! In the meantime here are some of my Favourite quotes from White Cat:

“See that’s the problem with kids – that’s how you all think. Like you’re immortal. Like all the stupid things you’re doing, no one ever thought of before,”

“Memory is slippery. It bends to our understanding of the world, twists to accommodate our prejudices. It is unreliable. Witnesses seldom remember the same things. They identify the wrong people. They give us the details of events that never happened. Memory is slippery, but my memories suddenly feel slipperier,”

  1. I have to disagree- I really prefer the UK cover for this one! I only bought it because of this cover- I really love it! I don't like the original cover- the font's a bit off to me. But all of them have nice aspects to them I think! x
